The Numbers Were Always Talking. Now I Know How To Listen
By Karrie Johnston

I have always felt there was something unusual about the numbers in my birthdate. Like a secret. A quiet rhythm pulsing beneath the surface of my life, teasing me. As I grew older, that rhythm only grew louder. Whenever I saw repeating numbers on clocks, receipts, or license plates, I would feel a tug in my chest. The world, it seemed, was speaking in code. Somewhere along the way I stumbled upon numerology. It was as if the universe cracked open.

Traditional Numerology seemed very generic to me, but as hard as I tried I couldn’t teach myself Numerology. Then along came Tami and Wizard School. I learned that numbers weren’t just quantities...they were frequencies. They carried vibration, destiny, and memory. My own birthdate, unfolded like a key: each digit revealing a story of soul purpose, life lessons, and gifts I had sensed but never named. Now all I do is see and think about numbers and they are everywhere. Not just as coincidences, but as messages. The more I studied, the more I fell in love with it. Numerology felt familiar, almost like remembering a language I used to speak. There is such peace in realizing that life has patterns. That every experience, even the difficult ones, has a rhythm and purpose. I began to see that Numerology wasn’t just something interesting to read about. It was part of my spiritual calling. My birthdate, the one that always stood out, had been guiding me here all along. It was as if the universe had written my path in numbers from the very beginning. Now, when I work with numbers, I feel like I’m in conversation with something ancient and wise. Something that speaks directly to the soul. And in a way...I think it’s been speaking to me my whole life. I just finally learned how to listen. I feel like I have finally found what I was always meant to be: a Numerologist, a translator between the soul and the silent language of the universe. My numbers have called me home.☼

Book Spotlight:
Big Magic
by Elizabeth Gilbert

I am always telling my students about how the numbers show up. How they feel, how they speak, and how to recognize them when you encounter them. This book is very close to what I would say the 7 would show up as.
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert carries the energy of a living, breathing 7. It’s thoughtful, mystical, and deeply introspective. It holds that quiet wisdom that feels both grounded and otherworldly at the same time. The kind of wisdom that doesn’t demand attention but somehow fills the whole room with it.
Gilbert writes with the kind of beauty that stops you mid-sentence. Her words feel poetic and alive, as if she’s talking straight to your soul. She explores creativity as something sacred and alive. Ideas as conscious energy searching for someone ready to bring them into the world. She talks about fear as a natural part of the process, not an enemy to defeat, but as a companion to make peace with.
I loved how she gently dismantled the myth that you have to suffer for your art. She invites you to create with curiosity, lightness, and joy instead of pressure or perfection. Every chapter feels like a permission slip to breathe, explore, and say yes to the ideas that come knocking.
This book helped me think differently about so many parts of life. It reminded me that creativity isn’t something we force. It’s something that moves through us when we’re open. Big Magic demonstrates the energy and power a 7 holds through and through. And I encourage you to read this book. It will not only help you on your path, but it can even guide you to understand a part of Numerology that is difficult to share a clear understanding of as well.☼

I Have Had My Numbers Read...Now What?

When I first had my numbers read, I was fascinated. I leaned eagerly into the lovely traits of each number in my chart… the gifts, the strengths, the qualities that felt like affirmations of who I already believed myself to be. I’ll be honest: I tried very hard to ignore the other side of those traits - the contrasting dualities that didn’t sound so appealing.
But here’s what I’ve discovered: real growth began when I stopped turning away from the shadow side of my numbers and started acknowledging them.
One of the hardest traits I had to confront was when I was told that I could be a “master manipulator.” Those words immediately made me bristle. Who wants to identify with something that sounds so negative, even harmful?
After sitting with it - first in resistance, then in meditation. I began to see where this trait had shown up in my life. There were indeed times when I had subtly shaped situations or people to bend toward my will. It wasn’t easy to admit, but honestly it opened the door to transformation.
Instead of staying stuck in shame, I learned to reframe. I now call this trait “the master orchestrator.” Because, in truth, this quality has also been a profound gift.
When my son suffered a traumatic accident and spent nearly three months in varying states of unconsciousness, I needed an entire team: doctors, nurses, therapists, cleaners, aides - all aligned with his recovery. In that season of life, I intentionally used this trait to bring people together, inspire collaboration, and keep everyone focused on one goal: his healing.

The Slave, The Scientist, and The End of a Friendship.

Some readings stay with you forever, not because they’re comforting, but because they change how you see everything. That’s what happened when Jenny did this Aura Reading for me and my former best friend. It was a relationship reading, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to go as deep as it did.
Jenny began revealing the lifetimes we had shared. One where I had been a slave owner and she had been one of my slaves, whom I had mistreated. And another where we were both male scientists in Atlantis. We had been working together on a project meant to serve humanity.
She had performed an experimental treatment on me, inserting something into my brain that was supposed to help, but instead began to destroy me from the inside. Before the damage could complete its course, Atlantis itself fell.
That lifetime apparently caught the attention of a Galactic Council, beings who, according to Jenny, have been observing us ever since. Some of my guides, she said, are part of that same galactic network, which made perfect sense to me. I’ve always felt that presence around me, and even met my main spirit guide a couple of years ago, who surprised me when I saw her and realized she looked like an alien.
In this life, Jenny described our energies as opposites that once balanced but had become strained.
I carry the masculine, bull-like energy, which is direct, determined, and strong. My friend carries the feminine, fairy-like energy, which is soft, passive, and elusive. Jenny warned that there were issues of trust and warnings in this connection.
Not long after that reading, our 36-year friendship ended. It wasn’t explosive. It was just time.
Looking back, I see how this reading helped me to find my voice. I finally stood up for myself when I felt disrespected, instead of silencing my own truth to keep the peace. For the first time, I didn’t apologize for having boundaries.
It was painful, but it was also freeing. And I can honestly say that I am grateful we had that reading. I think it helped both of us see the truth more clearly and release something that I feel had run its course.
If you ever have the chance to sit with Jenny, do it. She doesn’t just give you answers, she gives you awareness and truth. The kind that shifts everything and helps you to finally step into your own strength.♥

The Crystal That Captures the Spirit of Spooky Season

As the veil thins, I always find myself reaching for Smoky Quartz. There’s something about this stone that feels like protection, like a deep exhale when the energy around you starts to swirl and shift.
Halloween season always stirs up so much. Old memories, emotions we thought we buried, and energies that come back to check if we’re really done with them. Smoky Quartz helps me move through all of that with grace instead of fear.
It’s the stone of transmutation, which is just a fancy way of saying it helps turn heaviness into clarity. It grounds you when things feel uncertain and absorbs the noise so you can actually hear your intuition again. For me, it’s like standing barefoot on the earth after a storm. Everything feels clearer, lighter, and more real.
This time of year asks us to release what no longer belongs to us. Smoky Quartz holds space for that release while protecting your energy from taking on more than it needs to. It’s deeply healing, helping to lift old wounds and reminding you that you don’t have to carry what you’ve already outgrown.
When I hold this stone, I can almost feel it pulling away the haziness, helping me see what’s true and what’s just leftover fear or confusion. It’s calm, steady, and honest, like a friend who tells you the truth but holds your hand while you hear it.
So if things feel a little intense right now, keep Smoky Quartz close. Let it absorb what’s heavy and remind you that even in the dark, you are safe, grounded, and guided. The smoke always clears. The truth always stays. And you’ll feel stronger on the other side. ♠

Through The Thin Veil of Halloween
Last Halloween wasn’t about costumes or candy for me. It was about connection, magic, and saying goodbye.
That morning, I did something I had wanted to do for years. I got my long-lost sister on a video call with my dad, while he was still in the hospital. It was their first time seeing and speaking to each other. Afterward, he just kept repeating, all day and night, “This is a good day. This was a good day.” Over and over, like a prayer of gratitude.
Later that afternoon, my sister rode with him in the ambulance as he was transferred to hospice care. He was moved into a private room that overlooked a beautiful courtyard filled with magnolia trees shedding their soft, feathery leaves. He was approved to move there after doctors in the hospital said he had three days to live. But Dad had no plans of leaving this world yet, and he somehow found the will to stay with us for nine more days.
After they arrived at the hospice place my sister got him settled and then went to a Halloween party with her boys. I came later, ready to spend the night. I didn’t know it then, but that night would become one of the most sacred moments of my life.
Dad and I talked for hours ...about life, about my business, his radio show, and the message and purpose we both felt called to share with the world. We told old stories, and the kind of things you only share when you know time is short. I told him about his childhood best friend Jeff, who had started visiting me in spirit a week before we even knew Dad was sick. Jeff had passed away when I was little, and I couldn’t remember his name at first. Once I did, the messages became so clear. Jeff showed me my Dad and another friend named Bill climbing mountains together, laughing, and hanging out together. And Dad confirmed every detail.
Jeff had also shown me that Dad was dying before the doctors told us. He showed me that he had a fast moving cancer by helping me remember that he was diagnosed himself with Leukemia and died within six months. He painted the picture fully by showing me another friend I knew years ago with the same scenario. It was one of those moments that reminded me how real and precise the spiritual connection can be when we listen.

Learning From The Dark Side

The shadows in the chart hold stories most of us shy away from. In my column for the fall issue of The River House Witch Magazine, I explored that hidden territory. Not as a mistake, not as something to fear, but as a place of deep purpose. Those who walk in the dark, who carry what we often call shadow, teach us lessons the light alone could never show.
This article is different than what I normally write and I hope you enjoy this twist in honor of the spooky season. I believe that understanding both sides, the dark and the light, completes the map of our lives. There is power in knowing where the edges of the chart bend, and insight in seeing how the shadow shapes the whole story. We simply wouldn't know how good life could be without the bad.
Step inside this one and let yourself meet the parts of life and self that often go unseen. Deeper understanding is waiting for you to open it's pages.♦

Honoring Día de los Muertos: History, Traditions, and Creating Your Own Ofrenda

A Brief History and Cultural Roots
Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, Día de Muertos, or Día de Difuntos depending on the region, is deeply rooted in Mesoamerican traditions. Cultures like the Aztecs and the Mayans viewed death not as an end, but as a transition to another realm of existence. Our departed dear ones were not gone, they’d merely transitioned into a new beginning.
In these pre-Hispanic beliefs, the afterlife was simply another stage of life, and honoring the deceased was about welcoming them back for a special visit so that we could reminisce with them on a life well-lived and a legacy that transcended their physical existence.
This sometimes contrasts with the way that other traditions observe this time, which may include more of a focus on warding off dark spirits rather than inviting them in, as well as a return inward rather than an outward
